The second competition in memory of Dave Dewey a stalwart of the local community who ran many football teams in the Gosport area and who sadly passed away last year.

Headley won the trophy last year and agreed to host the competition this year at Headley.  The competition was a four team event with matches taking place on 2 pitches.

Headley invited AFC Dynamo and Portsmouth Wanderers and with us (Lee Rangers) and themselves made up the 4 teams.

The first 2 games kicked off simultaneously and Lee V Dynamoes was a feisty affair with schoolmates pitched against schoolmates.  Lee took the lead and appeared to be well in control.  5 half-time substitutions gave the team a new lookfrom the traditionall 4-4-2 to a 4-1--5 formation.
Lee eventually ran out winners as the Headley V Pompey game ran out a 0-0 draw.

The second lot of games put us against Pompey and a lack of concnetration and some goading from the crowd allowed Pompey a relatively easy win.  Headley beat Dynamo after Dynamo taking them extremely close.

The third and final set of games pitched us against Headley whom we owed a performance after they battered us at the last visit.  The team played really well and won 1-0 but it should/could have been more.  Pompey gave Dynamo a good game and ran out winners.

The weather tried to spoil the event but it was not to be.  Daves daughter in law, Michelle presented the trophy to the winning captain from Pompey and presented medals to the winners and runners up for the second year running to Lee Rangers.  All in all a great competition and fine end to the season.

Thanks to Headley for organising the competition and for all of the support from our parents.

The last league game of the season saw the Rangers pitched against their derby rivals Dynamo.
The game started well with Dynamo having all the play for around 10-15 mins. However Lee came back into it and bossed the second part of the half before a great piece of football allowed Tristan to cross for Dan to shoulder in (Balotelli style).
Half-time came and the game was end to end. Both teams were frustrated by decisions before Jordan did his superman impression and took out the Dynamo centre forward. Penalty awarded and Jordan redeemed himself with a fine save.
As the game got closer to the end a great chance for Connor was punished by Dynamo who raced up the other end of the park and scored the equaliser.
A bitter pill to swallow but all in all a far result of a game played in a much better spirit.

Well done to all.

Another team that we comprehensively beat last time came to Sultan today and had a point to prove. Another explanation of the whys and wherefores before Lee took to the field looking a little sorry for themselves.

Jordan kept goal with Matt and Tom G central and Tristan and Craig as fullbacks. Jack started on the right with Harley Connor central and Luke on the left. That left Glen and Dan up front with H and Thomas as substitutes.

Lee started well and scored a goal from a well worked move. Eastney came back and scored a well taken goal, swiftly followed by another to put them 2 - 1 up. Half time came and the manager asked the players to quicken it up a little.

Second half started and a substitution was made which then turned into a chance for Harley who slotted comfortably. It was all Lee for a while but Eastney were tenacious and chased first and second ball. Then another good move and Lee went 3 - 2 up with a goal from H then a few minutes later Connor notched.

Eastney kept going and were a much better organised outfit to that of the former. They had a few more chances but it wasnt to be and Lee deservedly won and both teams are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship.

Thanks for the support and my present at our last home game opf the season.

3 weeks since our last game and it showed. Stubbington who we had beaten previously comprehensively had a point to prove. The manager instilled in his players not to take things too lightly but half did and the other half did not. 1 - 0 down at half-time and a right roasting gave the players the impetus they needed.

Second half an equaliser by Glen and Lee were in the driving seat. Loads of chances came our way but it was not to be and the last few minutes saw Stubbington grab 2 late goals.

A great lesson in not taking anyone lightly and the first time we have been beaten outside the top 2. Lets hope we dont take this attitude into next weeks game.

Well done to those that tried.

Well a lesson in how to prepare for a game followed by the work you do on the pitch.

Lee Rangers appeared nonchalant for their game against top of the league Headley after their previous 1-1 draw earlier in the season.

However a well drilled and fit Headley fought for and won first and second ball almost every occasion. Connor and Craig appeared to be the only players for Lee that put a shift in. It was hard and a lot of chasing shadows was occuring.

Headley were 3 - 0 up after a couple of mistakes and some fine finishing by half-time.

Players visibily requested to be substituted, which was a sad sight to see. It is the first time in a number of years that we have had a lesson in football but today was it.

On a positive note the lads did not give up and kept going until the end. However we need to be on our mettle this weekend against our derby opposition of Dynamoes.

Thanks for the support this week as the 75 mile round trip hurt with a result like that.
